This Summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Gabriel Slater to Here's The Plan for a week on a summer placement. Keep reading to find out more about how Gabriel's week went!

"I have spent a week working on a summer placement at Here’s The Plan. Having known only what I read on the website beforehand I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. On my first day I was welcomed brilliantly and was made to feel like a part of the team. I found the diversity of the services provided very impressive and was intrigued to take a deeper dive into the different parts of the company. I was working with Sam Grace for most of the week and feel like I have accomplished a great deal in that time. I have written process documents, presentations and wrote a report on the new market-wide half-hourly settlement which is supposed to start April 2025. I sat in on three meetings with clients which I really appreciated. In addition to this, I was given access to Zoho Vault, a password manager service that HTP are going to be using soon. I read information and watched webinars on the functionality of Zoho Vault and have now filed all of HTP’s shared passwords into the system so that they can be quickly accessed by anyone at the company. On Thursday I worked beside Chris Stewart who took me through the company’s finances. It was very interesting to see how the finances of a company work in comparison to the literature I have read in the past, and how greatly they differ. On Friday we went to the Perth Show to do some marketing and interact with some of HTP’s clients, and it was evident that they are highly regarded by those that they do business with. After that I continued work on Zoho Vault, putting together a process report on all the information that the system can present and how this can help improve HTP’s security.

My time at Here’s The Plan has been fun, insightful and incredibly fulfilling. In past placement’s I’ve had I have been given work which either doesn’t have much purpose, or I have been shadowing other people, but at HTP I have been given meaningful work which has contributed to the company which I greatly appreciate. I would like to give a special thank you to Sam Grace for setting up the placement, of whom I cannot speak highly enough, and to Douglas Reid for building a fantastic ethos within Here’s The Plan which is evidenced by everyone welcoming and trusting me so well. It really does seem like a great company to both work for and do business with.
