Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
EPR is a new packaging regulation in the UK that aims to reduce the environmental impact of packaging waste by making obligated producers responsible for the full net cost of collecting and recycling all packaging that they place on the UK market.
Under this regulation, companies will have 100% responsibility for their packaging waste. This means that they will need to consider the environmental impact of the packaging they use and make changes to reduce their obligation.
Your obligations differ depending on whether you are classified as a small or large organisation, but you must be ready to report if you satisfy any of the following criteria:
Classification
Turnover
Tonnage
Small
Small
=> £1m
=> 25 tonnes < 50 tonnes
Large
=> £2m
=> 50 tonnes
Deposit Return Scheme (DRS)
The Scottish Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) is a government initiative that encourages people to recycle empty drinks containers such as cans, glass and plastic bottles and drink cartons. Under the scheme, consumers pay a small deposit on each eligible drink container at the point of purchase, which is refunded when they return the empty container for recycling.
The deposit amounts vary based on the size of the container, with most being set at 20p. Consumers can return their empty containers to designated collection points, such as automated machines or local retailers, to receive their deposit back. This legislation is likely to increase costs for producers, wholesalers and retailers, rest assured we can help navigate your business through the complex regulations and how to best prepare for the start of this scheme.

We have been using Here's The Plan formerly MDG for nearly 20 years for our electricity contracts. I find them extremely efficient and prompt at sorting out any queries I have. Unlike the large electricity companies the phone is answered straight away. I received email quotes every week regarding new contracts and listened to their advice on the market resulting in a good renewal contract. Keep up the good work.
